Arrivabene discussed Hamilton's documents, drawing a comparison with four-time champion Sebastian Vettel's time at the squad between 2015 and 2020.

“Sebastian Vettel also sent such dossiers. He wrote, spoke and shared everything," Arrivabene, who served as team chief at Ferrari from 2014 to 2019, told Sky Sports Italy.

Arrivabene added that Vettel's documents were "almost useless".

"I don’t want to say anything bad about Sebastian, but everyone should mind their own business. When a driver starts playing engineer, that’s it. Then it’s really over."

Mercedes High Performance Powertrains managing director Hywel Thomas, who was also on the podcast, analysed the new power units in more depth.

Thomas explained cars will be even faster than the previous generation early on the straights, but energy management will hinder their ultimate top speed.

“So, I think in terms of start-straight, the performance is going to be pretty epic in comparison to what we've got today. But we know we're going to start to derate earlier on the straight because we haven't got enough electrical energy to use it all the time.”

Max Verstappen has picked #3 as his race number for the 2026 Formula 1 season, following his title defeat this year.

Another problem was that #3 belonged to Daniel Ricciardo, whose career ended in September 2024 and theoretically retained rights over that number for two years – but the F1 Commission is now allowing drivers to waive these specific rights early.

Ricciardo has therefore approved Verstappen’s use of #3.

Mercedes i Ford drže 6 timova od 11. To je više od polovine. Nekako sam skeptik da će im FIA zabraniti motore.
