Exactly how the BoP is calculated has not been revealed by WEC rulemakers the FIA and the Automobile Club, but the system is known to have changed more than once over the course of the season.

The America manufacturer announced on Thursday that the race programme with a new LMDh developed together with ORECA will be operated by Ford Racing rather than in partnership with an independent team.

Mark Rushbrook, global director of Ford Racing, said: “Breaking from the traditional model of many manufacturers – and often our own model in the past – Ford Racing will oversee and manage every aspect of our prototype sportscar racing project.

“We are not looking outside our walls to find who can run a programme for us; we are looking within Ford Racing to build our programmes infused with our passion.

It will utilise all the global resources under the Ford Racing banner, including its US facilities in Dearborn, Michigan and Charlotte, North Carolina.

Red Bull Ford Powertrains, which is developing the new Ford-badged Formula 1 engine that will come on stream next season, was also name checked.

To je kao kada Mitsubishi uzme neki Renaultov model, stavi svoju oznaku na njega i malo ga nasminka i kaze "e ovo je novi Mitsubishi" iako na njemu nema ni "M" od Mitsubishija.

Tako je i sa Fordom u zadnje vreme. Nekada su imali prave fabricke timove koje su sami osnovali i vodili, a danas samo placaju privatnike da stave svoju znacku...

Novi biznis model. Nije to samo sa Fordom. Jer svi oni gledaju kako im je najisplativije. Evo Tojota je probala sa striktno fabričkim timom u f1 pa je prošla ko bosa po trnju. I dalje su im posledice da ne znaju kad će se vratiti. Dok su neke druge fabrike pod ovim modelom (u saradnji sa privatnim timom) osvojili titule u F1.

Ok, novi biznis model, ali to ne znaci da postaju fabricki timovi zato sto su promenili biznis model.

I dalje ima gomila timova koje su fabrike same osnovale i vode, tipa Ferrari i Mercedes u F1, Toyota i Hyundai u WRC i slicni. A to sto je neko izabrao laksi put tako sto je platio privatniku da koristi njegove aute ne znaci da je fabricki tim kao oni timovi koje fabrika jeste osnovala i vodi.

Honda poised to finally join WEC Hypercar

“The WEC is growing and growing, and who doesn’t want to do the Le Mans 24 Hours?” he replied.

HRC has no intention of funding an entire WEC programme on its own. The structure would therefore be broadly similar to the current IMSA arrangement, although the chosen partner team would certainly contribute more than Meyer Shank Racing does today and more than those that had previously expressed interest in this WEC programme.

The Race understands that Inter Europol Competition - LMP2 winner at Le Mans in 2023 and ‘25 and IMSA class champion in 2024 - is poised to pair up with Honda on the WEC project.

As in IMSA, one car could be run directly by Honda Racing Corporation, with a second operated by the partner team. And this could happen as early as 2027. Such a structure would also open the door to an additional ARX-06 entry at the Le Mans 24 Hours.

In a statement provided to Sportscar365, Acura and Honda Motorsports’ U.S. manager Chuck Schifsky said: “Acura and HRC US are focused on the 2026 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season where we continue to campaign two Acura ARX-06 GTP entries with Meyer Shank Racing.

“Any speculation regarding plans beyond the 2026 season is premature. The 2027 Acura Motorsports plans are being finalized and we will share more information with you at a later date.”
Alpine has confirmed it plans to withdraw from the World Endurance Championship (WEC) at the end of the 2026 campaign.

The French team began competing in the Hypercar class in 2021 but has seen minimal success in the category, winning just three races. Its parent company Renault has undergone financial difficulties in recent years, with the Alpine Formula One team’s power unit project now shuttered.

Alpine’s Formula One team are now using Mercedes-manufactured engines.

By ending its participation in WEC, Alpine will now solely focus its motorsport activity on Formula One.

Alpine now becomes the latest manufacturer to exit from WEC, with Porsche and Lamborghini also recently ending their participation in the championship. However, the series is set to welcome new manufacturers, with Genesis joining WEC this season, and both Ford and McLaren entering the championship in 2027.

Aston Martin • BMW • Cadillac • Ferrari • Genesis • Peugeot • Toyota • Honda (?) • Ford (2027) • McLaren (2027)

Izlaskom Honde IMSA praktično postaje druga liga WEC-u jer samo Porše vozi koji nije u WEC. Izgleda da IMSA pada a Indy raste, ono što bi se moglo desiti sledeće je da IndyCar konačno dobije trećeg OEM-a
